You guys have GOT to watch this slideshow on the impact of plastic bags. I'm really not a forwarding email kinda person, but this one is a major exception. Josi V., a longtime customer, just shared it with me by email this morning, and I think it just changed my life. Check out this photo of a beautiful proud egret completely shrouded in plastic bags except for his beak and feet, how heartbreaking is that? Not to mention the other seals, dolphins, birds, and other wildlife you'll see caught up in various messes. I learned alot about how hopelessly expensive it is to recycle bags. The only real solution is to just stop using them, and to switch to cloth. Now of course, as a store owner, I have to provide bags to shoppers, but realize that there is a major cost both ecologically and financially. Can you believe I spend about 4K a year on 2 HUMONGOUS shipments of bags? So, if you can, try to bring a cloth bag, or bring a S&S bag back in to reuse. We are proud of the recycling program we have for our bags, but the truth is only a small fraction come back. ~Lisa
